Sewing
From the moment I sat down behind a sewing machine, I was hooked. Flipping the liner on my first tote bag opened my eyes to the engineering behind textile goods.
I've made it all — from simple totes to self-drafted jackets. This is a collection of some of the pieces I am most proud of.
Placket Pocket Jacket
My first major foray into self-drafted garments, the vision was to create a classic chore coat with a twist: massive sweeping pockets that continue to the back. Now I wish all my jackets had back pockets—they’re absolutely fantastic for extra tools in the shop and a snack on the go.
A curved hem, side entry chest pocket and flat felled seams throughout are the kind of details that warrant a second look.
Chalk Bag
Necessity is a powerful motivator. As I fell in love with climbing, I found myself reaching for a chalk bag that wasn’t there.
So I made one. This bucket style bag has magnetic closures, zip and quick-access pockets, a g-hook closure that doubles as a belt loop, a fleece liner to keep chalk in, and heavy interfacing to keep the bag upright
Reverse Engineered Sling Bag
When my friend showed me this sling made by Wawwa, I knew what I’d be gifting him for his birthday. With limited photos and specs, I was able to reverse engineer this bag, including the front boxed corner, the stand-out feature.
I made a few improvements, swapping the snap closures for a zipper. An inner key pocket is stashed away underneath the zipper keeping contents in place and complexity low.
Other Garments
Not everything needs a story. Sometimes it's just about making something well.
